Made to Measure
Ensure a perfect fit with our made to measure service.
In addition to our in-house bespoke work, Stewart Christie & Co offer a made to measure service. We work with a long established traditional manufacturer (based in Leeds in West Yorkshire, a traditional centre of tailoring and menswear manufacture) to construct our machine made garments. Our made to measure service can be a very effective way of ordering more personalised tailoring at a lower price point than a bespoke garment.
Made to measure garments are known by many terms: “ready made to measure,” “personal tailoring,” “custom tailoring,” etc. The essential difference between made to measure and bespoke clothing is that a made to measure garment is machine made, using an adapted block pattern.
A “block” pattern is similar to those used by the high quality off-the-peg clothing made by couture houses. If you are lucky enough to fit the off-the-peg templates reasonably well, a made to measure garment is a good option. Made to measure will, however, unlike a bespoke service, not be a suitable option for all body shapes.
For this service, a full set of measurements is taken, styling and detail will be discussed with our knowledgeable staff, cloth is then selected and the order sent to the maker. If a fitting is required we will advise you of a time frame for this after we have received the garment from the maker. The time frame for this service is quicker than that of bespoke, running at approximately 10 to 12 weeks, including fitting. As a rough guide, made to measure prices average at £1,850 for a three piece suit, £995 for a tweed jacket and £950 for a blazer.
